Pete Wisdom sat in his office in The Shard, drumming his fingers lightly on the wooden desk that belonged to some long-dead ghostbuster or demon hunter. It was pitted and worn and generally pretty grimy looking, but it had character as far as Pete was concerned. It didn't hurt that he and Dana had christened the bloody thing...
((No, not this again)) he thought as he turned to look out the window and gazed at the London streets below him. ((Get out of my head, Dana, and leave me in peace))
"Sir. Sir? Mr. Wisdom," a voice said softly behind him, but Pete was oblivious to it. The speaker tapped her foot on the floor, growing more and more impatient as Wisdom seemed to be in his own world. "Pete, what the hell is wrong with you?"
"Wha..." Wisdom said as he spun his chair around and saw his assistant glaring at him.
"Your peers at Five and Six are waiting for word on last night's incident, and they are not going to wait much longer. Have you been able to get Braddock on the line? Sir."
Pete shook his head as his assistant gave him an odd look. "He's off in Otherworld or something. Meggan said she'd get him here as fast as possible. I'm sure Downing Street will be ringing me soon. Damned Hellfire Club twits. Bringing back Morgan Le Fay? What next? Dracula? Genghis Khan?"

"Bite your damned tongue, boy!"
A man that could only be described as crusty and unkempt stood in the doorway to Pete's office and stared at Wisdom and his assistant. "For heaven's sake, woman, get out of here so I can talk to your boss!"
"Do not insult my assistant, Alfred!" Pete snapped as the old man laughed and took a seat near Pete's desk. "I'll deal with him. Please let Five and Six know I'll be down shortly. Tell them Bloodworth popped in and is being his charming self."
"Damned straight I am!" the old man said as he smiled at the woman as she left. "I liked the last one you had better. Better...rack. Now, how's Dana doing? You two set a date yet?"
"Alfred, I am not in the best frame of mind to discuss this right now," Pete said as Bloodworth stuck his tongue out at the MI-13 chief. "Excuse me?"
"Siofra will have your head for breaking Dana's heart. You did it again, didn't you, you fool! Or did Dana wise up and leave you in her magical dust?"

As Pete's assistant made it back to her desk, still seething from Alfred Bloodworth's grumpy commentary, she looked up to see Brian Braddock smiling at her. "I'm here to see Pete Wisdom, miss..."
"Ms. Thea Smythe, Captain Britain, sir...please, go inside. Mr. Wisdom is waiting for you," Thea said as she motioned for Braddock to go into the office. "I'll see about tea for all of you."
"Pete, don't run this one off," Brian said as he walked in, and he could tell Pete was fuming about something.
"Not you, too! Blame the home office for my engagement going down the tube!" Pete snapped as Brian stood in the doorway with his arms crossed. "Damned nonsense with Morgan Le Fay and her daughter has them all twisted, and they think Dana is a huge issue, so I had to break it off with her again!"
"You could have told them no and stayed with Dana," Brian added as Pete started to pace back and forth.
"And if they put someone else as the head here, don't you think that Dana and her whole family would have huge targets on their backs?" Pete said as he looked between Brian and Alfred. "Britain likes to keep its magic in the shadows or in the history books. Dragons tossing their lunch on London Bridge is not what Downing Street wants to see, now is it?"

"Sorry about that...my sister got a hold of something that disagreed with her."rumalth stepped into the room wearing an crisp looking Antique RAF dress uniform. the bars of a wing commander stuck out on her shoulders."so your head of MI:13 now?"she chuckled slightly."I guess you should learn about me some time."she took off her pilots cap,the hat had holes in it to fit her large orange horns.
She smiled ."I'm Rumalth. Officially wing commander Jade dragons.retired RAF."she looked at the people with her sightless eyes. "I'm retired from MI:13 as well too but with these rumours I've been hearing lately I figure bows a great time to unretire."she sniffed."does it smell like British patriotism in here?"

"I was referring to...." Pete said as he stood there blinking for a moment. Rumalth. The name sounded familiar. Dana had always been reminding him to read more of the historical briefs, but he never had the change with all the bloody meetings and battles the X-Men had.
"I think old Petey boy here was referring to that twitchy dragon that the Clan MacFeorais had a few years back that tossed wedding cake and Champagne on the roof of Parliament," Bloodworth said as he got to his feet. "Alfred Bloodworth, at your service! Please have my seat. Pete's too cheap to get more chairs," he added with a smirk.
"Alfred, will you just..." Pete started as he hung his head. "Never mind. It's a pleasure to meet you, Rumalth. Please, have a seat, and I'll try to fill you all in on the mess that was the Hellfire Club gala. Besides Captain Britain here, I'm not sure if either of you have had dealings with those..."
"Reprobates?" Bloodworth said with a big grin. "Or were you thinking of something more pedestrian?"
"I was going to say with those supposed captains of industry, but reprobates will do," Wisdom explained as he shook his head. Then his head snapped back for a moment. "Wait. Rumalth. Your sister is a dragon?"

"Well yes....and I've been In Service to her majesty in various respects since some where around.........boy I don't know....when were the ripper killings...1890 or so...i can't remember.but yes.i am a dragon."she looked like she'd rather not delve into the circumstances of her hatching.
"So why has there been a large influx of magic around the world lately?"sh may not be able to use magic I agley but being a creature of magic she could still since when something was amiss with it. "There are quite a few rumblings among the great thunders of dragons, and that's never a good sign when the dragons rumble."a large rolling thunderous sound emited from the outside of the window as a large red eye looked inside dragons softer looking eye scales glistened with a white shine

"Oh bloody hell, I'm going to have to get Dana or Siofra here..." Pete muttered as Bloodworth laughed. "Alfred, not now."
"Dana is his former fiance, and Siofra is her grandmother. You might know her as the Black Faerie," Bloodworth said as he listened to the sounds of the dragon outside the window. "Greetings," he said as he bowed to the window. "When Mr. Suit and Tie here is done with his briefing, we can have a lovely chat, you and Rumalth and I. I used to be dragon corps way back before I fell on my arse and broke my..."
"That is quite enough," Pete grumbled. "A trio of witches who should have known better tossed their lot in with Morgan Le Fay to resurrect their dead children. Le Fay shafted them and used their powers to de-age her daughter with Victor Von Doom. It opened several hell portals in New York, and the X-Men and SHIELD had to clean up the mess."
"Tell the rest of the story," Bloodworth said, the grin now gone from his lips.
"My almost-sister-in-law channels the Morrigan and is damned scary in her own right. She and one of her cousins tried to shut Le Fay down, but the woman escaped with her daughter and a handful of henchmen. SHIELD is supposed to send one of their lot here to have a chat on some intel they picked up on the wires after that party. They would not go into details over the phone. They are afraid that power stunt woke up the old gods or something. That pencil-pusher Coulson is supposed to be on a plane over here now, but I want to do some digging on our own before he gets here. Rumalth, would you be willing to pitch in on this investigation?"

"I'll bet you twenty quid if I find little miss Camelot she'll start cracking something about using my heartstrings in some sort of potion or magical weapon of mass deatruction......man sometimes I hate being a practical factory of magical artifices. It was almost worse than the time I spent in japan....bleeding yakuza magicians went crazy trying to get my scales to forge 'dragon swords' "she rolled her eyes."giving humans magic was one of the biggest mistakes that th great egg layer made...."
'Little one you know making quips on the great egg is not good for the health of a young dragon....she might give you scalerot.....we don't need scalerot again....."
"That want our fault....I told those bleeding hydra scientist that dragons are not meant to be lab rats....I hope they burn in the gullet of the great egg layer.they deserves their deaths for the wrongs they did to my beautiful scales."she turned her nose up at the memories of the Brutish hydra scientists.
'You are confusing the humans little one.'
From the outside the conversation looked extremely one sided.

"I take it you are conversing with...someone...telepathically...more or less?" Pete said to Rumalth as he got a somewhat wistful look in his eyes. "I've been known to do that from time to time."
"You did it much more than you let on, Pete, but in the family you almost married into, it was commonplace," Captain Britain said as he turned to Rumalth. "I've read a lot about those fool Hydra science experiments. I'm sorry they thought you were not a person but a commodity."
"Back to the topic at hand," Pete said as he buzzed his assistant. "Thea, any word from SHIELD yet?"
"The agent is in transit, sir," Ms. Smythe's voice came over the intercom.
"Why can't they just portal like the rest of us?" Pete asked as he turned off the intercom.
"Because those Yank wank...your counterparts in the States don't know what to make of magic," Bloodworth said as he looked over at Rumalth. "With the exception of those Hydra idiots, I'd like to think we are a tad more open about such things. Then again, I'm sure you have even more tales to tell in that area, Rumlath. I know dragonborn folks have always been abused but the lesser lights of humanity."

She chuckled to hide a mixture of anger and pain."People are terrified of things they have no power of control over, and with good reason....if i felt like it, me and my sister alone could decimate nearly every conventional military in the world, But i fight for the crown because i feel a sense of patriotism."
she sighed and twirled her cane."There have been rumours among younger more....Idiotic dragon hatchlings....more of a new ...cult."she sighed" there is talk of a few dragons joining a 'Goddess'" she scoffed at the term" i assume this is le fay...you are going to need some heavy hitters if you wish to take them down, even if they are young."
Someone must teach these hatchling of the POWER of the Great Egg Layer! gavenreth pushed her mind against everyone in the room so they could hear her.

"Oh, this is getting worse and worse," Pete said as he looked at his desk and realized how many of Dana's relatives were going to be needed in this bloody mess. "Rumalth, I do not want to seem like a name dropper..."
"But you are," Bloodworth snorted as he spoke. "Tamsin Dragonborn and that crackpot lot who help her. You want to ask about the dragons being born on Avalon that no one is supposed to know about."
"Why yes, Alf, I was going to mention Merlin and Tamsin and that little group they have just beyond the veil," Pete said as he threw his hands in the air. "Rumalth, there is a group of Avalonians and Celts connected to the X-Men. They have three dragons that Merlin helped raise. One fire breather, one ice dragon and one who can control the earth. How I have no bloody clue. But Merlin is training this little green one now. If we could arrange a visit for you to the Holy Ilse, might you be able to tell if Le Fay has gotten a foothold there? I don't particularly enjoy Merlin's company, so I can only imagine what dragons who don't believe in his ways would do to push him to the side. You could also see if they might be of any help. You could pick your team to go with you."

"frankly I don't think it matters who you send as long as they can pull their weight."
tell him not to send the one known as "the deadpool"
"yeah....Gavenreth doesn't want Deadpool if you have ties with mister mouthy mercenary.but basically anyone you'd regularly send tankbusting....send them with us....but let them know,I'M in charge."

If Pete had been drinking, his beverage would have been spit out all over the room after hearing Rumlath and Gavenreth's request not to send Wade Wilson along to Avalon. "You need not worry about Deadpool coming along. The last time I saw the man, he was trying to drink all my scotch and downing Twinkies at the same time. Of all the American foods I don't like, Twinkies are most certainly the ones I could live without for the rest of my life!"
"And here I thought it was those fish taco things!" Bloodworth quipped as he grinned at Wisdom. "Hate the taste of tilapia. And, if I might add, don't send along Malphas. His propensity to eat the shrunken heads of his own demon kindred is a bit disturbing. He might make the Avalonians upset."
"Malphas is on another assignment," Pete said as he went to hit the button on the intercom again. "We had to send him to Japan to right some mess in the demon ruling class."
"Now, Pete, one last question," Bloodworth started to ask as his grin vanished. "Who's going to part the veil? Might I suggest..."
"We still have to do that!" Wisdom responded as he started to grit his teeth. "I thought we had an open invitation! Before I run off to fetch the Lady of the Lake, Rumlath, are there any supplies you or Gavenreth need for this?"
