After taking another bite of chicken, Sasha faced Mr. Dragotti. How could his ex-boss be so oblivious to everything he did? At least Mr. Dragotti never ordered him to kill anyone he loved. Sasha's eyes widened in disbelief when a terrible thought formed in his mind very slowly. He turned to Alison. His body began to tremble against his will.
''Would Mr. Dragotti order me to murder someone I love? What if my mother was still alive? Would I have to end her life?'' Sasha asked Alison. Perhaps he was being too paranoid.

Mr. Dragotti had disregarded Sasha until he heard his questions. His hand concealed his mouth after another loud laugh. Sasha's questions didn't exactly cause him to laugh. The fact that his ex-button man was paranoid amused him. Mr. Dragotti glanced at Sasha and grinned. ''I might have ordered you to murder your mother,'' he said.
Craig Dragotti's words were half true. If Sasha's mother harmed his mob, she would have to perish. His comment was mostly to torment Sasha. He was well aware of the ex-mobster's love for his deceased parent.

Nathanael had kicked Branan under the table several times to get him to stop staring at the beautiful Trill woman--no, Trill royal family member--who had walked into the party, but Branan had ignored every single kick. He felt a connection to this woman, and he was not sure if it was simply wishful thinking on his part or if she was somehow connected to Jadxia. It never dawned on him that this woman was the new host for Praxus until she walked over and spoke to him.
Branan pushed back his chair, careful not to haul Nathanel's leg with him as he got up. That would have been odd beyond words. He stood up and took a deep breath as he looked at Ezri. In his heart he was terrified that he would say the absolutely wrong thing and scare her away. He was also afraid her guards would come over and push him away. He knew the authority members among the Trills were not his biggest fans.
"Hello, Ezri," He said softly as he took her hand and kissed it. He was so unsure about what to do next. "How did you find me? Or was this all some very happy coincidence that you're here?"
Branan wanted to ask a million other questions, but he kept them tamped down for the moment. He really did not want Ezri to freak out and run off.

Rahne felt so bad for Rorian. This whole party was a nightmare, but having everyone come up to her to express their condolences about her father had to be twice the nightmare. If things kept going downhill, Rahne would grab Rorian and bolt this mad house for a nice pizza place in midtown or maybe a hop back to San Francisco.
"No one has had a lot of time to go sightseeing yet," Rahne said as she shook her head as another person stopped by to chat about the Professor and then left. "But the Purifiers have decided to take up residence out there now, too. It doesn't bode well for a long and happy stay unless we run them off."
Rahne realized she sounded like half the tag team of Doom and Gloom and tried to shake it off. "Sorry. I need to stay more positive and not let the daft people make me angry. Actually, the students have all been enjoying it so far for the most part. The beach has been the biggest attraction for everyone, and some of us plan to scope out Chinatown soon. When do your classes start? Maybe we can have a celebration dinner for our group? I just don't want to mess up your studies."

Two Hellfire guards were hauling a young man toward the table where Tony Stark was holding court. "Mr. Stark, this is the young man you asked us to bring to you," they said as they finally let go of Jackson's arms. The young man adjusted his tux and tried not to look Iron Man in the eye. One of the guards handed Tony the repulsor assembly Jackson had hidden in his coat. Yes. he had brought more than one to the party.
"This is just nuts," Jack growled as he saw his mother, Adaryn, looking over at them. He wanted to hide under the table as she got to her feet and started to run over to them. "I did not steal your tech. I swear it on my father's grave."
"Kid, I have no damned idea who your father is, and I really don't care. That is not your play toy," Iron Man said as he sent a message to Avengers Tower. <<Oksana, Clint, how'd you like to come to the Hellfire party? Coulson's here, and frankly there is something rotten about all of this.>>
"I know it isn't a play toy!" Jackson yelled as Adaryn screeched to a halt next to her son. "Mum, I've got this."
"No, you have not got this!" Adaryn snapped as she saw the repulsor in Tony's hand. "Please, give that back to my son. He did not steal it. He made it."
"Yeah, sure," Tony laughed but then stopped as he looked at the crazy MacFeorais woman in front of him. "He called you Mom?" "Yes, I did!" Jackson snapped. "My name is Jackson MacFeorais Stark. My code name is WarTech. Now give me back my damned gauntlet!" "Oh shite," Adaryn mumbled as she looked at Tony and then Jack.
"Come again?" Tony asked as he tapped out another message to Oksana and Clint. <<Bring Strange, too. Shit just got real. Will explain when you get here>>

"I'm glad I gave up drinking, because I'm afraid there would not be enough alcohol on the planet to prepare me for this, right?" Tony asked as he turned his attention away from the others at the table and looked at Adaryn and Jackson. "Is this why you run at the sight of me? Not because the whole Genosha thing?" Tony asked Adaryn as she nodded her head. "Do I want the hear this?"
"I was an Avenger in another world, and I was married to that world's Iron Man," Adaryn said softly as she tried steer Tony and Jackson away from the crowd a bit. "Logan must have told you all this. That world's Kari was married to Steve Rogers, and he was an X-Man. My Tony and I had two children, Jackson and Niamh. Jackson was with his father as Galactus ate that world. Marrac and I were pulled from it as Galactus attacked, and my Tony apparently had the Sorceror Supreme there, a girl named Mikaela Carrion, send Jackson through a portal at the very last minute. Niamh is still missing and likely dead. It makes no sense, I know, but it is true. Bring Stephen Strange here. He can verify it with magic."
"Oh, I plan to have him do just that," Tony replied as he looked at the repulsor again. "You could have told me."
"I thought Jackson was dead. Why would I have said a word?" Adaryn asked as she crossed her arms and got into a rather defensive stance. "And after what happened to the mystics of this world during the Civil War, why would I want to speak to you at all? My sister may have forgiven you, but it is not that easy for all of us."

Alexia took the phone gently and smiled. "I look forward to meeting him....And all my extended family and it sounds like I have quite a few of them to meet?" She said as she handed back the phone to Shannon. "I do wonder what the heck I am going to say to father when I meet him?......I don't know how he's going to react?"She said as her attention was momentarily caught by what was going on at Stark's side of the table. "Oh I see yer Tony is just as much of a prat as the one from my time was."

Sasha's eyes widened as his jaw dropped in disbelief. He was not sure if Mr. Dragotti joked about ordering him to kill his mother. The nasty comment still wounded him. Tears streamed down Sasha's face as he stood. ''Pardon me, Alison,'' he sobbed while he trembled. He went to the restroom and began to sob by the sink.

Mr. Dragotti viewed Sasha's tears until the latter went to the restroom. One of his eyebrows was raised in disbelief. ''I half-joked!'' he exclaimed as he shrugged. Sasha should have known better than to reveal his love for his mother in front of a potential tormentor. Mr. Dragotti wondered if he should have followed Sasha. Perhaps Sasha had to endure solitude for a few moments.

"Thor is a good man, and I doubt he could be shaken by the arrival of a daughter from another world," Thom said to Alexia as their collective attention turned to Tony Stark, "especially one who is as kind and gracious as you are. And, yes, Tony Stark. Iron Man here is the director of our biggest international peacekeeping force, the Strategic..."
"Just call it SHIELD," Shannon giggled as she looked back at Thom and Alexia. "Daniel and I are part of SHIELD, or are part-time now anyway. And yes, Tony Stark is our director."
"And he is a force that drives many crazy," Thom added as he kept watching Iron Man. "And, at times, that included our mother. They seem to be in some sort of truce mode now, and that has to be a blessing. What is your father like, Alexia, back in your world?"

The commentary between Craig and Sasha, now augmented by the drama with Tony Stark and Adaryn MacFeorais, just made this one swell evening for old Jack. He knew why Craig had said what he did. He was just surprised the conversation had gone in this direction. And he was not sure what Sasha had let cross his mind to get to this point.
Jack didn't have to worry much longer about any of it as a shoe dropped into the centerpiece on the table. "AHHHHHH!" Jack shouted as he leaped from his chair and looked up to make sure nothing else was going to drop down
"The shoe apparently flew off that guy there," Jubilee said as she pointed to an acrobat near but not over the table. "I thought those ballet slipper things were taped to their feet? Who knew?"
"I've had enough of the Flying Santinis or whoever they are!" Jack shouted as a few people turned to stare at him. "Having every half-baked villain roaming around is beyond the pale, but having to fear for one's life while dining is insane!"

Craig's eyes widened in shock when a shoe dropped on the table. He looked up and saw one shoeless acrobat. He faced Jack after the pirate shouted. ''The shoe never contacted you, Jack.'' As for Sasha, Craig considered apologizing to him. Jack happened to be his main priority for now.

Alexia smiled as she thought back to her father. "A very wise and caring man. He loved mother very very much. Sometimes I look at myself and think it was their love for each other that brought me into the universe. I only hope I do them proud."

Ezri gave Branan just the slightest barely there smile. "I'm representing the Trill High Council tonight," she said softly as she wasn't sure how much conversation to engage in.
"Princess we must find you a seat," one of the guards said as glared at Branan.
Ezri looked back. "It's fine. He's ... a friend," she said to the guard but looked at Branan and gave him another smile. She wasn't sure if she should bring up Jadzia right now. She had left instruction to pass her Bat'Leth to Declan. She also had a few more personal belongs to give to Branan. Tonight she would not speak of his former love. It was not the right time.
She took a deep breath and smiled. "Are there any open seats at your table? Is Kari here?" It was weird. She personally had never met any of these people beofre but she had so much history with them.

"There are seats here, including ones for your entourage if you wish," Branan said softly to Ezri as he looked at her guards. "If they are not practical, I'll gladly help you find something more suitable."
Branan knew this was going to happen. He had been preparing mentally for it for what seemed like months, and now, here was Ezri, and he seemed so bloody lost. Declan was here, and so was Edward, the son from another world that he and Jadzia shared. Luckily Niall was still tucked away at the base so Hank could find out what had exited his body and why it had made the boy insane. Ezri did not need to meet him or even know about him just yet.
As they spoke, Branan heard Jack scream and leap from his chair, and Shadowmage was sure that would send the guards into a tailspin. "Jack Sparrow always has this penchant for drama. Please ignore him as best you can, at least for the moment," he said to Ezri as he pulled out a chair for her. "My companion here is Nathanael Langdon. He is someone I mentioned to Praxus' hosts many times, but your paths have never crossed."
"Princess, it is truly an honor," Nathanael said as he stood up and made a sweeping bow to Ezri. "I hope the evening turns out to be a happy one for all of us."
"So say we all," Branan replied as he smiled at Ezri. "And Kari is here, playing mother hen as usual. I'll tap her on the shoulder and have her come over here," Branan said as he sent a telepathic nudge to his twin.

Mr. Dragotti hoped to pacify Jack as much as possible. He didn't wish to know the consequences for people creating scenes and uncovering a villain's possible plan. Maybe he and Jack would just be asked to depart. His eyes settled on the acrobats above. *Hopefully a person won't fall on the table!* Mr. Dragotti thought. The evening wasn't going very well due to his words about Sasha's mother and Jack's reaction to a shoe contacting the furniture.

Sasha remained by the sink as he cried. He glanced at the mirror and noticed tears on what was left of his face. His mask continued to conceal the upper half of his face. *Mr. Dragotti was cruel to comment about my mother like that. Did he forget about my emotions for my deceased parent? I could never end her life* he thought.
What would Alison think of Sasha's reaction? Would she view him as less of a man for crying and abandoning her? *Perhaps my ex-employer is getting even with me for my mischievous past. He is very creative with punishments!* Sasha thought. He used his fingers to dry his wet eyes, but it was no use. Additional tears streamed down his face.

Kendra and her father, Gabriel, were not thrilled by all this flying circus business, and Kendra was still angling to get the hell out of that place. "Can't we just head out now? Ma's sorta busy, and I really don't think she'd mind if we just ran the heck out of here and did a happy dance near the Dumpsters in the back. Then we can hit Shake Shack and maybe finish the night off with bowling."
"Kendra, your mother will not be pleased if we cut and run, at least not yet," Gabriel said with a chuckle, "but maybe we can hit Shake Shack later. I know this is way out of your league, and it isn't exactly how I would normally spend my night..."
"Yeah, with the umpty bajillion vampires here," Kendra grumbled as she saw some fangy guy sitting with her uncle Ewan and his girlfriend Jessie. "Hey, who's GQ over there?"
"Elijah. He's one of the ancients," Gabriel replied as Kendra tried not to stare at the guy. "He's fine. He helped your uncle."
"Figured as much. Uncle Ewan wouldn't exactly be breaking bread with someone he can't stand," Kendra added, looking over at Maddie for a moment. "OK, maybe he would if he did it for someone he loves."

Edward had pulled away from Tessa and Padraic when he saw this world's version of his father speaking to the woman who had arrived with the Trill guards. He stood in awe as he watched them, and then it finally dawned on him as he felt a connection, via Branan, that was too familiar, even in this world.
"Mom," he whispered as he continued to watch them as Branan pulled out the chair for the Trill princess. It didn't look a thing like his mother, but in his heart, Edward could tell the Praxus symbiote was inside this woman. Even though his Praxus was from his world, there were enough similarities to pull the same heartstrings here.
{{No, not going to run over and get the guards into a lather}} he thought as he continued to watch the group at Branan's table.

"Your father and the Thor of this world sound very much alike. I hope you meet this world's version of your father soon, and I hope one day I can meet your father in your world," Thom said to Alexia as he turned to look for a moment at their Uncle Branan. "Once we've all had a bit to eat, I can walk you around and introduce you to the rest of the clan and to any Avengers who might be in attendance. Unless you'd rather wait on all that, Alexia. Your call."
Thom wondered if taking Alexia to visit Stark was such a wonderful idea as he watched their Aunt Adaryn and Cousin Jackson talking with Iron Man. This had all the makings of a disaster, and Thom was praying that they all could avoid making it worse.

Stephen Strange had formed a portal that opened just inside the doorway of the Hellfire Club's grand ballroom. He rocked back on his heels for a moment, just avoiding falling back into Hawkeye's shoulder. "My apologies, Clint. I was not prepared for this."
Strange flicked his fingers, and all the magic in the room became visible to him. "Just as I feared. Oksana, you might feel a tad lightheaded. It seems the guest list is a who's who of the mystic world as much as it is of New York's society mavens. The power bouncing around this room is insane."
As the trio got their bearings, Strange saw Tony in the far corner of the room. "I think we should see what Tony is worried about. Would you please follow me," he said as he made a beeline to Iron Man. "Adaryn, a pleasure," he added as he nodded to the red haired MacFeorais sister. "Tony, what's wrong?"
"Meet my son, Jackson MacFeorais Stark," Tony spouted as he looked at Stephen and rolled his eyes. "Oksana, this is not what you think it is. Trust me. Alternate universe. She was an Avenger," he added pointing at Adaryn. "Hey Clint. Watch that blood red stuff in the glasses. It's blood. We have vampires out the ying yang here, too."
"Perhaps bringing us all here was a bad idea?" Stephen said as he looked back to Oksana and Clint.

Sasha half expected Craig to appear to apologize for his past words. He glanced at the door, but it never opened. As far as he knew, Craig wasn't exactly the comforting type. He used his suit jacket sleeve to dry tears from his face. How would his mother view him? Would she be understanding?

''Please sit, Jack. You're creating a scene,'' Craig said in a stern tone. The last thing he needed was a villain searching for any excuse to battle someone. He glanced at Mrs. Brown and frowned. *A rogue might harm Mrs. Brown by mistake. I won't allow her to be harmed* Craig thought. Falling acrobats were the least of his worries.

Oksana, Clint, and Stephen stepped through the portal in hallway just outside the HFC, and Oksana caught a glimpse of her glamoured self in the mirror. Clint whistled from behind her, and she rolled her eyes. "Clint, don't whistle at me."
"I'm not. I'm checking myself out," he said smoothing his hands over the front of his chest as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. "Nice glamour trick, Stephen. Too bad you can't really make me all spiffy like this."
"Come on, lets go in before Tony freaks out," she said as they walked into the main dining room. She spotted Tony in the corner of the room and put on a smile as she past several HFC members. "Tony, I'm so sorry Clint, Stephen and myself were late."
"Traffic was a bitch," Clint interrupted.
Oksana's eyes scanned the younger boy and the woman with red hair on either side of Tony. If she had to guess, Tony's freak out had something to do with the both of them.

The corners of Craig's mouth descended. So many things were going wrong. The verbal cuts he inflicted on Sasha and one possibility of someone he cared about being harmed. Craig glanced at Jack and couldn't forget about the latter's sudden outburst. *Maybe the remainder of the evening can be saved as long as Jack is pacified. I'll also have to keep my eye on any acrobats in case another object falls on the table* he thought.
