''I won't be shocked if Warren or Emma bid on anything expensive. You do have your treasures at home, Jack. Are you interested in putting Tia Dalma up for one auction?'' Craig shuddered at the memory of seeing Tia Dalma's frightening face. He supposed as long as he stayed out of the area, he wouldn't have to see her. ''I suppose you could drink in moderation, Jack.''

Jack's eyes grew wide as Craig mentioned auctioning off the Tia Dalma mirror. "Oh heavens no! The mirror is something I do not dare part with. If I even tried to, I am afraid the lady herself would visit us from Barbados and box my ears. There are other things I could auction, I suppose. If the X-Men ever need to raise funds, I can always find a few things then."
As he looked at the trays of glasses passing them again, Jack thought the better of it. "And I really think skipping the harder stuff is best, savvy? I don't trust Michael Priest as far as I can toss a gold coin, and if anything happens that endangers these students here, well, I want to be sharp."

''I never considered Tia Dalma herself haunting you if you parted with the mirror, Jack. That might be worse than seeing the mirror itself,'' Craig said as he seemed anxious. His eyes were a bit wide until he looked sheepish. ''Are there items Mrs. Brown would auction?'' Mr. Dragotti smiled at Jack after the latter resisted the temptation to drink. ''You have more willpower than my men. They would have consumed every bit of alcohol in sight. Maybe except Sasha if he didn't wish to expose his skeletal teeth during a drink.''

There was a definite electricity in the air as the attendees entered the gala, and the Red Queen lapped up every delicious bit of it as she strolled amongst the party-goers. She was seeing things these mere mortals could not, and that made her a tiny bit giddy inside.
{{Loki is here? That will make for interesting dinner talk}} she thought as she seemingly glided through the rooms and toward the grand staircase, but then the Red Queen stopped as she felt a familiar presence. {{Jessie? You did make it after all}}

Riordan DalCais has made it through the throng of people outside and finally breathed a sigh of relief as he stood inside the Hellfire Mansion. He had two very pretty ladies on his arm as he saw Jack and Craig in the distance. "Jackie! Craig!" he shouted as he waved at both men a tad frantically. "Oh, this will be marvelous!"
As they waded through the crowd, Riordan grabbed two glasses of champagne and handed them to his dates. He then snagged one for himself. He stopped for a couple of photos before getting over to the gents. "Without all of you, I would not have a career. Thank you."
Riordan always tried to be nice to his fans. After so many centuries, he knew how fleeting fame really was.

"Mrs. Brown would likely not..." Jack started to say but then stopped as Riordan DalCais and his dates approached. Jack moved backward and bumped into some man behind him. "Oh bugger. Craig, you will not believe who Danny Boy there has on his arm."One of the women with DalCais was tall and fair-skinned with purple-highlighted black hair. The other Jack knew all too well. She was a Barbadian goddess and the protector of his treasure. "Craig, let me introduce you to Tia Dalma," he said as the woman came closer, clucking her tongue against her teeth and grinning at Jack. "Wicked Jack. You think I'd miss such a grand party. Don't look so shocked. And no, Craig, I don't bite."

A smile came to Jessie's face as she heard her mother reach out to her.....Well one of them. Jessie had expected the Red Queen to be here it surprised her however that she was already here. {"Hello mother."}She responded back in a pleasant tone.{"Of course I was going to make it. It's part of what we have to do sometimes."}

The Red Queen kept moving in and out of the crowd, hovering a tiny bit around one group or another as she continued to speak to Jessie. {{I know these things can be annoying at times, but I hope tonight is not one that ranks among your worst}}
As a waiter came past with a tray of glasses filled with blood wine, the Red Queen wrinkled her nose a tad. Apparently there were other vampires here besides Jessie and her date Ewan. There would not have been that much blood wine otherwise.
{{Jessie, how many of the Children of the Night are attending this soiree? From the X-Men's ranks, I mean. I feel many of them just hovering outside my senses. I'm not sure how many call your group family}}

Craig was quick to notice the Red Queen and admired her beauty, but never said anything to her. The sound of Riordan's voice caused him to turn his head. A small grin materialized on his face since he recognized him until Jack mentioned who the other woman was. His eyes widened in horror as his jaw dropped at the revelation of Tia Dalma in front of him. The sight of her grin was why Mr. Dragotti stepped back. ''How did you get out of Jack's mirror?!''

"I do not live in Jack's mirror," Tia Dalma said as she walked over to Craig. "Wicked Jack and I have an agreement. I enchanted his mirror. And he gets me pretty things in his travels, don't you, my wicked, wicked Jack?"
"Tia Dalma lives in Barbados," Jack replied as he watched his old friend and his new friend get acquainted. "I am surprised to see you here with good old Danny Boy."
"I met him when he was filming near my home," Tia Dalma said as she reached out and touched Craig's coat lapel. "There. You will need to look sharp. Both of you. Riordan brought me for a reason." "My sister had visions about this party, and none of them were good," Riordan added as the other woman with him looked around the room and started to fidget with her hands. "Jack, you remember Maureen, don't you?"
"Mo! Little Mo?" Jack sputtered as he realized who the woman was. "The last time I saw you, you were wearing those awful safety pins in your ears. When was that? 1998?"
"What's the matter, Jack? Time flying too fast?" Tia Dalma asked with a laugh before turning back to Craig. "Craig, you are a good friend to Jack. He needs that. He'll need that even more in days ahead."

''I see!'' Mr. Dragotti muttered after Tia explained about the enchanted mirror. His eyes were wide in shock as soon as she touched his coat lapel. He tilted his head in confusion when Jack mentioned Maureen wearing safety pins in her ears. He faced Tia when the woman said Jack would need a good friend. ''Days ahead? Why would Jack need a good friend in days ahead? Will he endure some kind of tragedy?''

Tia Dalma sighed as she looked into Craig's eyes. "There is a war coming," she said as she tried not to seem either too insane or too alarmist at the moment. "The mystics have known this for centuries. Some think it will be between mystics and non-powered humans. Others say invaders from the stars will descend on this world. Still others say mutants and mystics will clash. And of course, there are those who say the mystics will wipe themselves out."
"And you need to stop with this talk tonight, Tia Dalma," Jack said as he got a bit closer to Craig. "That prophecy nonsense only serves to cause pain. Too many of my friends have walked that thorny path. Do not pull Craig into our messes."
"I only say what the signs point to, Wicked Jack," Tia Dalma replied as she turned back to Riordan's sister Maureen. "She knows, too. The signs speak to her as well."

Maureen stood there quietly while everyone else started to talk about the horrors of the years ahead of them. "I'm really, really sorry I even told you that stuff, Danny!" she finally said as she put her empty champagne glass on the tray of a passing waiter. "You know not all my visions come true. And you're just scaring this poor guy."
"Craig Dragotti, this is Maureen MacNealy, or Mo as she often goes by nowadays," Jack said as he motioned to the purple-tressed woman.
"Nice to meet you, and sorry if this talk got way out of hand," Mo added as she snapped up another glass of champagne. "Then again, if you're hanging around Jack, then you know all about the cray cray life he leads."
"Cray cray? Dear Lord, Mo. Have you been reading Perez Hilton again?"
"Hey, Perez is my friend," Maureen said as she scowled at the pirate. "And that was before he or I were famous. And yes, he knows I'm 'special'," she added as she handed Danny her drink and made little quotation marks in the air with her fingers.

''A battle?'' Craig muttered in disbelief. After biting his bottom lip in anxiety, he turned to Jack after the pirate assured him the prophecy was nonsense. He then faced Maureen and nodded at her. ''How ridiculous for a mob boss to be afraid of talking mirrors and possible future battles,'' Mr. Dragotti said with a sudden small grin. He tried not to remember seeing Sasha's true face after he employed the other man. It had been out of curiosity about seeing the features behind Sasha's mask.

"Before this sideshow runs off the rails, Craig, we should have a chat," Jack said as he motioned for Craig to follow him to the side for the moment. Jack tried not to get too close to the other guests, and he made sure he was far away enough from Tia Dalma for the moment. "I have been alive for a very long time, and most of those prophecies are nothing but nonsense. But having a healthy fear of anything that is as scary as what I deal in is not a bad thing. Enchanted mirrors. Gods and goddesses. Fantastical monsters. We live in a bloody fairy tale at times."
Jack paced around for a minute, waving his hands about in an odd manner as he tried to find the best words to make his next point.
"If anything the ladies hinted at comes to pass, heaven help us that it won't mind you, we will be ready. But mystics have been talking about these things since I was playing with toy boats in puddles, and we are all still here."

The Red Queen had hoped to time her appearance with the arrival of Emma Frost and Scott Summers, but she realized they would be just as shocked to see her there chatting away with Jessie as they would be if she came sweeping in on Michael Priest's arm. Then again, they had seen her on Muir Island anyway, so the fact she was back in circulation would not be that great a trauma.
Yes, the "is this Jean" or "is this Maddie" debate was about to start raging once more. The Red Queen may not have been the physical body on Muir Island, but in the end the Maddies and Jeans of the multiverse were all really part and parcel of each other, mirror images from different worlds. They were, of course, less convoluted than that mess with Karenza having her essence split and scattered over the nine worlds and beyond, but it still got a bit bizzare at times.
"I'm sorry for the cloak and dagger nonsense, but I'm not sure how welcome I actually am in this house anymore," The Red Queen said as she walked up to Jessie and Ewan.
"Maddie," Ewan said as the Red Queen smiled at him. "I forgot you were one of the ranked members of Hellfire back in the day."
"Yes, the Black Rook, but that place is taken now," "Maddie" replied as she smiled at Ewan and Jessie. "But there are other adventures that await me with this fine organization. I'm glad you could both make it to the gala."

Mr. Dragotti was quick to follow Jack to the side. ''Most of those prophecies are nonsense? Which prophecies are true?'' he asked. The ex-mob boss looked thoughtful for a moment. ''So the predictions are sort of like the Mayan prophecies of the world ending? We're all still present,'' he said.

Damon had come to the party on his own because he had business to attend to in New York. He really did not want to be here, so he snuck into the mansion through a side door with the catering crew. He saw some blood wine and snapped up a glass, wandering as he sipped the garnet-colored concoction.
As he looked up at the balcony above him, Damon could feel Aro up there with a bunch of other power players. He was not exactly thrilled that the Volturi lord was there, but he was not in any position to comment on it.
{{This is going to be one awkward night}} he thought as he sipped his blood wine. {{Not bad. Wonder who picked this out?}}

"Well, some of the prophecies are true," Jack said quietly to Craig. "Most are for things that were, well, not exactly common knowledge, savvy? Things to do with Kari MacFeorais' immediate family and friends are the ones I am most familiar with. Not ones that deal with the entire known world. Those big sweeping ones are less likely to come true. Too many variables. And thank whatever Maker you value for that!"
Jack looked back at the trio of Danny, Mo and Tia Dalma all chatting away about something. "Please don't let their silly banter bother you, Craig. It may all be like the Mayan prophecies now that you mention it. No one could agree on that one, and in the end, nothing happened."

Agent Victoria Lennox was well aware of the Hellfire Club's top secret operations long before becoming an operative of the highest law in the land. Her father, born poor, amassed his own fortune in Great Britain as an engineer, much like Sebastian Shaw himself. He had garnered the watchful eye of the London Branch during Victoria's teenage years. She had used her name in order to infiltrate the Hellfire Club. Months ago, Sebastian Shaw had given Agent Lennox valuable information. She knew such information always came at a price. She was unsure of his intentions and kept a weary eye upon him at all times. She also had concerns about a Hellfire Club mole within SHIELD. Shaw's file was too clean given his reputation.
Agent Lennox reminded herself that she was at the Gala purely on business. She walked through the grand front doors wearing a lovely gown (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=48249719). It opened in the back with a very deep V, garnering some looks from the drunken slobs in the room. "Seltzer water." she said politely to a servant making the rounds. She kept her head held high and avoided the watchful eyes of the more powerful gentleman of the room. She did her best to represent her fathers business. She was a chemical engineer herself, though she grew bored of it all. The knowledge was critical to her own hidden mutant abilities.
She was quite surprised by the number of X-Men in attendance. There were far more than Warren, Emma, Roberto, and Elizabeth's plus one. Were they here on a mission or were they special guests of the Lords of Hellfire? Victoria Lennox crossed her arms over her chest and drank slowly from her spritzer, careful not to smudge her beautiful face.
What was more concerning to Victoria was the number of unknowns at the event. No matter what Sebastian Shaw had claimed in the past, she knew he wouldn't allow the reputation of Hellfire to fall to common people. Then, the anxiety set in. Had she not done her homework? Victoria's job was her life. She had no romance. She rarely saw her family in Britain. How had this crept past her?
She listened to a few conversations around her, mostly tiresome gossip. She allowed her mutant abilities to creep fro her mind slowly. The air was heavy and there was the familiar feeling of the psionic dampeners in the air. She could feel their pulsing energy in the very molecules floating around her. Sebastian Shaw had spent the majority of his life at the top surrounded by aggressive telepaths. Each one, individually, betrayed him. It was enough to send a man into a rage...

Elizabeth Glorianna was born to a life of luxury. She was raised in a palatial home on the outskirts of London. She practically spent her childhood wondering the halls of the London Hellfire Mansion. However, the life of luxury was not in Elizabeth's destiny. That isn't to say a lady doesn't take a keepsake. Elizabeth Braddock was perhaps the most dashing woman in attendance wearing a beautiful gown that both accenting her legs and her chest. She was well aware of what caught the stare of those around her (http://www.thecelebritydresses.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/295x443/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/_/b_kate_beckinsale_black_prom_dress_total_recall_uk_premiere_0.jpg). She was a fashion model in a past life; No one expected any less.
She kept her lips pursed and her head high above the peasants around her. She took no comments from the paparazzi and took less from the staggering men inside. "Tequila Cosmo." It was a drink as wild as she. Psylocke had been away from the X-Men on a special mission. A personal one. This was the first time in weeks that she saw her X-Friends. What was different about this Gala... Elizabeth had no man candy on her arm.
Psylocke felt the psionic dampers straining her brain as well. It was expected. She had infiltrated the New York Mansion in her early twenties on assignment from STRIKE, though she was missing some memories from them. It was natural to forget some things when your mind is as twisted as a picasso painting.
"Allison!" she said in a flirty voice from behind her long time best friend. She went to hug her friend and greet the others as well. The X-Men who had never been before dreamt of attending, despite the various battles they endured over the years. "Rumor has it the magnificent Dazzler is making an appearance..." Dazzler was a professional singer with (I believe) 5 top 40 hits!

''I guess nobody really knows when the world will cease to exist,'' Mr. Dragotti said with a shrug. His eyes scanned the area for food. ''Are you as hungry as I am, Jack? Let's get some food,'' he said. Mr. Dragotti never forgot about his vow to prevent Jack from consuming a ton of alcohol. He blushed at the sudden sight of Psylocke since he thought she was beautiful.

"Well mother I think the feeling is mutual for all of us invited...Especially those of the House of Xavier."She grinned slightly. She noticed Ewan looked at her for a moment when she called Maddie mother but lasted no more than a moment. {"Love don't worry whether good or evil she is still my mother. Just like Emma is."}
"I know this is Shaw's party mother but honestly with so many combustible elements here I wonder how long this will be a party before it becomes something else."She said as she looked at the Red Queen. As they talked she could hear whispers from the dark shadows and she knew her mother could to.

"If my sources are correct, Shaw will not be the one to worry about in the end," The Red Queen said as she stood closer to Jessie. "At least not for those who fall into our side of the room. The Witchbreed, the Children of the Night, or, in my case, the outcast. Michael Priest invited me because of my past here, and that is all. I'm sure he's looking for some way to jab at the X-Men at my expense. And while I do have my issues with many under your roof, I do not want to be a pawn in another's game."
Maddie looked at Ewan, and she could tell he trusted her about as much as a farmer would his hen with a fox, but she kept smiling the whole time. "I see more of your group are arriving," she said as she motioned toward Psylocke, Dazzler and a few others around them. "I know many have wealth in their own right, but some of the names on the guest list surprise me. Now, where is your other mother, Jessie?"
