Hey all,
Sorry I was down for the count last week, but I feared what I had was another bout of pneumonia. It wasn't, but it still left me drained. I'm better now, but the antibiotics I have been taking are kicking me in the stomach a wee bit, so I'm not at 100 percent yet. I'm also playing catch-up for work.
That said, I have been doing some thinking about the board. Before anyone gets scared, this is not bad news. It is just something I feel I need to do to move things forward.
From the start, this board was created with two people in mind who are no longer here, and that has been more of a problem than I have been willing to tell all of you. It left me, and therefore the game, in a bit of a quandary.
I am not rebooting in the traditional sense. Everything we have done up to this point counts and matters going forward. I am not undoing anything. I may send a few OC characters offscreen, and I will be dropping some canons. I am not going to have a needless bloodbath to clear the path for the next part of the story. Stress on the word needless. All wars have casualties, and I will have a few folks fall eventually.
I am going to (I hope before the end of the year) have a new, slightly brighter skin in place. I am trying to keep things Ray set up like the CBox and affiliates areas. I am looking at skins with the avatars for the online/24 hour user area and the mini-profile section. I am not a coding genius, and I do not want to pick a skin that takes a ton of maintenance or tweaking. I am going to ask the folks at the support board and at Adoxography (where I will likely pick the skin) for help as needed. Two things are already stumping me, but I want to poke around first before I hit anyone with a ton of queries. If you see a white or light grey skin, then I am having it checked for errors. That won't be for a few weeks, and I'll alert you beforehand.
In general, I take a "lighter" view of things than others on staff may have, and I want to stress the heroics as much as the struggle to move forward for the entire MU after things like House of M, the decimation of the mutants and Civil War. The name I am going to use, I think anyway, will reflect that. I do not want to tip my hand before we reach that point in-game, but I will alert you to it before I make the actual change.
