Warren had more or less gone off on his own after the team's last run in with the Purifiers. He was able to shift between his less terrifying angelic form and that of Apocalypse's horseman of death, and right now he needed to harness all that Death carried with it in preparation for what was to come next.
Archangel and Wolverine had never been the closest of friends, but they did share the desire to take out the forces that were trying to subjugate or kill mutants worldwide. The Purifiers and Weapon Plus were only the tip of the iceberg, and Warren and Logan knew that. So they struck a deal. Warren would help provide the gear and a base, and Logan would pull in people that did not mind getting their hands dirty for the cause. It sounded like a dream come true, and it would be as long as Scott didn't stick his nose into it. He might have given Logan the go-ahead on the last version of X-Force, but he might not be too thrilled they were going to keep the team in the field.
((I can only imagine who is at the top of Logan's list, and I bet she won't understand why I'm here. Kari didn't get to see me back in the day)) Warren thought as his mind drifted to the woman he knew would be Logan's first choice. For better or for worse, Kari was a natural at this. He also knew Logan would keep Laura out of this so she could have a semblance of a normal life.
Warren ticked off other names as well. Domino and Psylocke would be on the list, as well as people like Warpath and, heaven help them all, Deadpool. Fantomex would likely make the cut if he could be found somewhere other than a wine cellar in Bordeaux.
((This is going to be a circus)) he thought as he continued to inventory what he had brought so far to Cavern X.
