The air was filled the screams and laughter of both kids and adults, as a late night carnival was in full swing in the cool, yet crisp Colorado night air. It was here, a man found a place of ought and solitude on a tall hill, overlooking the carnival below. This individual, Vincent Valentine Vermos, had been through a whirlwind of feelings these past few weeks. The biggest one, was being reunited with his sister, who had long thought to be dead at the hands of activists when he was a kid in Russia. His sister, Chantelle Valentine Vermos, arrived with a group of Askani when what was called the Messiah Child was born. And with that, the entire world was now turned upside down.
Vincent sat indian style, in front of a small campfire, as he looked out upon the carnival, studying the people and his mind spiraled in many thoughts. " It is beyond words to express seeing you again, joy is definitely there, but yet hard to swallow after believing you passed on for most of my life." Vincent said as his sister was knelt down close to him, herself more-so watching the fire. " Understanding the reasons, there needs never be an explanation, the less words spoken likely the better, what matters most is you are here, i care not for the rest."
Chantelle slightly smirked, adjusting the goggles propped on her head. " Always a man of exquisite words yet shrouded in total mystery my dear brother." Chantelle had often watched Vincent grow as a man, even if she was not able to be there for any of it. Sometimes great levels of responsibility comes the burdens of being away from the normal flows of life. Vincent nodded as he stood up. " This child.....is it truly the Messiah or is it the death of existence that some are claiming?" Vincent eyes never leaving the children running and screaming with colorful balloons and cotton candy.
Before Chantelle could speak, another voice came from the shadows as a younger looking girl stepped out of the shadows. Yuri spoke in a quiet and tranquil tone. " She is both and yet neither, she is death and destruction and she is also rebirth and life." Yuri walked to the edge of the hill, also watching all the humans running about the carnival. " There are always several realities, several divergent timelines, running parallel until we access certain events in order to fixate on the timeline we currently exist on." " Regardless of what path is taken, around her will be much loss of life, destruction, betrayal and lines of morality will be crossed, but also, true to her name, there will be rebirth and hope."
Vincent turned to look at Yuri, also looking at Chantelle. " I've seen what happens to the soul when it becomes dark, i've seen the world turn against itself and this world is on the edge of a very dark tide, I just hope in the end we make the right choices." Vincent couldn't help but watch the carnival, with images flashing through his head of it now abandoned of life, decaying and overgrown with rotting plants, bodies everywhere of both humans and mutants alike. Chantelle rested her hand on Vincent's shoulder, as if to snap him out of it. Yuri turned to them both. " Some of you will, and others won't, everything you've ever known will be tested, but so long as she survives, so will our existence."
