Although she is extremely nice, unvaryingly polite for the most part, she can also be blunt and assertive if she has to be. When relaxed she can be warm and funny, a bit flirtatious and a very good listener. Whether due to her powers or her long life of observing body language, she has an uncanny ability to pick up on people's feelings or thoughts- which she doesn't mention unless invited to for personal or professional reasons. Emily is wiccan and subscribes to the tenets and beliefs of that spirituality. POWERS AND ABILITIES Biokinesis: Remedy is capable of controlling the biological structure of her own and other people's bodies. She can produce biomolecular energy at will to affect any organic matter she touches, allowing her to heal physical damage done to her body or the bodies of others, reactivate suppressed mutant abilities, repair cerebral functions, and alter the composition of her own molecules in certain ways. Her ability is by close proximity - she tends to touch her targets, but can heal through clothing and sometimes (with heroic effort) cause minor effects in crowds (ie: Make them sleep) up to 1000 feet away. Remedy has developed enough control of her powers to manipulate the human genome, altering eye, hair and skin colour, implanting physical characteristics or even reactivating dormant mutant or atavistic genes. Because of her control over her own biology, Remedy has proven to be very difficult to treat medically. She usually passes out or goes comatose after pushing her powers too far. It is thought that, like Elixir, her DNA reboots itself. Because of her years of fine tuning and experience with her powers, Remedy can, if given a sample of skin or hair etc, track the person by their unique bio-signature. Foreign Chemical Resistance: Remedy's body is highly resistant to most drugs and toxins. For example, it is extremely difficult, though not impossible, for her to become intoxicated. She can, however, be affected by certain drugs, such as tranquilizers, if she is exposed to a large enough dosage. Disease Immunity: The unique regenerative qualities of Remedy's healing factor also extends to her immune system, rendering her immune to the effects of all known diseases and infections. Extended Longevity: Remedy's healing factor provides her with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process to an (as yet) unknown degree. Telempathy: Part of the healing powers she possesses, Remedy has a moderate kind of combination of telepathy and empathy (and so = telempathy) - with FAR more sensitivity to empathy. While she is aware of the general emotions in a room or crowd, it is often difficult for her to pinpoint individuals unless the emotions are very strong. She can 'hear' telepaths, but most often cannot reply. As a part of her spiritual path and controlling her powers, Emily regularly engages in mental disciplines of grounding and shielding, so much so that she has a very high telepathic Immunity that gives her a solid psi shield, rendering her nearly immune to psychics eg: Professor X and Emma Frost. (More on the origin of this later... and yes it has to do with her as-yet 'unknown' {sidhe} heritage! Muahahahahah!) POWERS AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Fighting Ability: Enhanced - from innate powers, and extreme training with Alpha Flight (especially Wolverine, from his early days with AF), X-Men and Weapon X. Her fighting style is a combination of feral swiftness, knowing the vulnerabilities of the humanoid form - often able to use her healing powers to devastating effect to cripple, and/ or render immobile (and yes in extremis, kill although that is more from her Velvet assassin days). Her speed and strength is similar to Wildchild's recent enhancement (from Romulus). Emily is capable of using small firearms, daggers, knives and swords and can drive most cars or vans, standard or automatic. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Emily is a medical doctor who can treat injuries and illnesses without her innate healing powers (should they be neutralized). Her specialization in feral behavior and physiology has led her to become considered an expert in the field. While she has SOME geneticist training it is not her strongest point. WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT: Nanite Implants: Microscopic robots that are deep inside Remedy's bone marrow. Upon certain cerebral commands, or upon the release of stress hormones, they will enter the blood stream and come out of her pores to form a slick coating that can defy and disrupt light, energy and mask her scent and mental signature, effectively making her nearly invisible to most devices and forms of vision/ senses. These nanites are vulnerable to specific forms of EMP disruption (a failsafe from her former Weapon X masters). WEAKNESSES: When exhausted from using her powers too intensely or too often, Remedy can get overwhelmed by becoming oversensitive to the very life functions of those around her. When in this state she will often go out of town or seek a more solitary place. (unless its a specifically shielded room) In the same vein, if she overtaxes herself she will often collapse and/or go into a coma for anywhere from a few minutes or hours to several days. Like every other psychic (although hers is minor league compared to Professor X and Emma Frost etc) any psi cancelling or event injurious to psychics will also cause trouble for her. The same things that would kill Wolverine will also kill her. HISTORY Emily had a very rough early childhood until her maternal aunt, Victoria Ferrell, formally adopted her and raised her as her own daughter. Despite academic excellence, Emily's teen years were plagued with morbid obesity and low self esteem. Entering into university at a startlingly young age thanks to her enrollment in International Baccalaureate in high school, Emily soon came into her own, gaining acceptance and made more friends than ever with her sweet personality and compassionate nature. It was here, in her early 20's that the manifestation of her powers wreaked havoc on her life. The Canadian super-group Alpha Flight took her in as a trainee. Despite being much older than many of the others in her group, Emily earned the code name Remedy and was often in the background as support staff rather than on the front lines. This changed when the team was disbanded and Weapon X kidnapped her, citing a technicality of the Mutant Registration Act. After nightmarish years of experiments and training at various Weapon X facilities, Emily became known as the assassin Velvet Darkness- where she learned to use her healing powers to kill 'sensitive' targets by what looked to be natural causes. While here she learned to fight hand to hand, black ops, guns and other weapons and to track people with her powers. When Weapon X's fall came, she escaped, moved back to Vancouver, BC, Canada to reboot her life, watching with growing unease as the situation with M day passed.
